Charlotte Community Rallies to Assist Families During Health Crisis

Lending Tree Joins City of Charlotte to Support COVID-19 Resource Fund

By Loán C. Lake, Communications Director | March 18, 2020

While the long-term economic and social impact of the COVID-19 outbreak are yet to be identified, the short-term impact is profound. To help address immediate need, Charlotte’s public, private and non-profit sectors are joining forces to ensure that support can be provided to families in need during this time.

On March 16, 2020, Lending Tree announced that it would donate a $1 million to support families in need as a result of COVID-19. The City of Charlotte then announced a $1 million match in public sector support, resulting in the creation of the COVID-19 Response Fund, a community-wide fund to aid families and individuals adversely affected by the COVID-19 crisis. To date, the fund stands at $XXXXX.

This collaboration between our public, private and non-profit sectors reinforces the far-reaching impact of using social capital to reach a common goal. We applaud the efforts to proactively counter the negative impacts this health crisis and provide stability for our most vulnerable families. We will continue to shine the spotlight on organizations that are providing solutions to Charlotte residents.
