Shaping Opportunity: Conversations with the Leading on Opportunity Council is a video series to introduce you to members of our Council. Our discussions highlight the work they are doing in the community to address the disparate effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the systemic barriers to economic mobility, as it relates to cross-cutting factors of The Impact of Segregation and Social Capital, outlined in the Leading on Opportunity Task Force Report.
As the threat of the Coronavirus lingers on and businesses remain closed or operating on partial schedules, countless residents have lost or experienced reductions to their primary sources of income. Over time, this has resulted in families being unable to pay their rent and mortgages in a timely manner. The Charlotte Mecklenburg Housing Partnership is one of North Carolina’s leading affordable housing organizations, serving low- and moderate-income individuals, families and communities through real estate development, homeownership education and financing, and neighborhood revitalization. In response to the adverse economic effects of the pandemic, The Housing Partnership has partnered with the City of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County to provide rent and mortgage assistance to those who have been impacted by COVID-19. Let's take a look at how The Housing Partnership is putting residents on the path to home ownership.
